Echo Vault
Echo Vault is a 2D sci-fi stealth puzzle game built with Phaser.js where players must infiltrate a futuristic vault, restore power by activating terminals, avoid autonomous security drones, and escape through the exit before being detected.
The gameplay combines stealth, exploration, and puzzle-solving. Players navigate increasingly challenging levels, interact with power terminals, unlock security doors, and carefully plan their movements to stay out of drone patrol routes. Each level introduces a greater sense of tension while maintaining simple, responsive controls.
Key Features
- Two handcrafted stealth-based levels
- Interactive terminals that power the facility
- Intelligent security drones that patrol the vault
- Unlockable exit doors after completing objectives
- Immersive mission briefing and cinematic ending
- Dynamic sound effects, background music, camera shake, screen flash, and fade transitions
- Smooth restart and level progression system
What sets Echo Vault apart from many games in the stealth genre is its focus on delivering a complete narrative-driven experience with minimalist mechanics. Rather than relying on combat, the game rewards observation, timing, and strategic movement, creating tension through environmental design and drone encounters.
AI Tools Used
- ChatGPT – game architecture, programming assistance, debugging, gameplay design, UI improvements, balancing, audio integration, transition effects, and code optimisation.
- Minds – brainstorming ideas, refining mechanics, and assisting with creative planning during development.
AI Integration
AI was used throughout the development process as a collaborative assistant rather than a replacement for programming. It helped generate implementation ideas, troubleshoot Phaser.js issues, improve code structure, refine gameplay systems, polish the user interface, design transitions, and accelerate testing and iteration. This allowed the project to move from concept to a polished playable prototype while maintaining full control over the game’s design and implementation.
